Dr. Charles Drake III, was elected on Sunday, December 14, 2008, as the President of the Central States Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
Dr. Charles Drake III, the second of four children, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and is a third-generation Seventh-day Adventist. Hearing the call to ministry early in life, he began preaching at the age of twelve and conducted his first evangelistic campaign when he was sixteen.
A product of Christian education, he attended denominational schools from elementary through college and has earned a Ph.D. in Leadership and Administration from Union University Graduate School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He has been a minister for 37 years, pastoring churches ranging in membership from 9 to 2,000. While serving as a pastor he built and renovated 8 churches and baptized over 3,300 precious souls. He also served the denomination as a departmental administrator for nine years as well as an adjunct instructor at The Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary and National St Louis University.
A sought after speaker, he has preached at several large gatherings and conventions across North America, the Caribbean Islands, Australia, New Zealand and Africa. He has also conducted leadership training seminars for several nationally known organizations.
He is married to Crystal, a Human Resources Manager for the State of Nebraska. They have three adult children and seven grandchildren.
In 2003 he was elected to serve as Executive Secretary and Vice President for Administration for the Mid-America Union Conference. In that role he served on several boards and committees including, the North America Division Executive Committee, the Shawnee Hospital Board, the Littleton Hospital Board, the Adventist Health Systems Board, and Vice Chair of the Union College Board of Trustees.
